Vogue Italia Is Back to Capitalizing Off Black Models

It was only a few years ago that the magazine did a special issue featuring all black models, and the collector’s item sold out rather quickly. Well, now the haute couture magazine is back to “highlighting” black models for profit. Don’t get me wrong, its move a few years back was daring, and this video is beautiful and features some of the best fashion talents. But, since the message was sent clearly already, why again?

This “new” special issue will only justify the norm of hiring black models for special “Afro-centered” or “black-focused” work, rather than hiring them year round for regular work as white models are. And, by the way, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing the “special” all-black issues more frequently now.
